I was in the mood for two things: using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers — hereafter known as ziggies for the sake of brevity — and doing a bit of heat embossing. After a couple of busy days creating the mouse at the lake card, I had thought that I would keep that day’s colouring for the Daily Marker challenge simple; that plan didn’t last long.

Spotlight embossed flowers

Inspired by Seven Hills Craft’s September challenge, I thought I would have a go at spotlighting not only the colour but also the embossed outlines. Technically, this turned out pretty much how I hoped it would. If only I had remembered to keep my hand out of the still-damp marker, which meant I had to adjust my colour choices. I would have started over, but I’d already done that once because I forgot to use the powder tool before heat embossing. Not one of my better days…

Presents for sale

A friend of ours regularly buys techy stuff for himself only to turn around and sell it again shortly after; this inspired my other half to suggest that there should be a “for sale” sign somewhere on his birthday card. We had already decided there would be robots and this Lawn Fawn set has a cute little gift stamp, so I decided to have a pile of presents already for sale.

Christmas: Duck with presents

Duck and presents

I have to take a break from my Copic markers every now and again — just for a bit of variety — and I do enjoy playing with the Zig real brush markers, even if I do need way more practise with them. When I pulled the digi print from the stack I’d prepared for the colouring challenge, I looked at it and saw a duck, which is why it’s very yellow. It was only when I started writing up the supplies list that I realised that it was supposed to be a penguin… oh well…
