September’s challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts is a sketch. One of these days I’ll figure out how to interpret sketches in a novel and interesting way (and still have it recognisable), but today is not that day. Instead, I’ve used the sketch as is, but divided it into layers with the pots at the bottom, the plants that go in the pots in the middle, and the bugs that fly over them at the top.

Thank you: Geometry with lacy flower

For August, Seven Hills Crafts challenged us to create a card with “geometry”. After discarding the idea of stamped lines or grids as too easy — I like to try to challenge myself and not run with the first idea I come up with when I see a challenge theme — I remembered the mini scenery stamp that I picked up but hadn’t got around to using yet.

Hello: Orange and grey

Once again, I’m cutting it fine creating a challenge entry in time… where does the month go? It took a while to figure out what I was going to do for this; there were three palettes to choose from and either of the others would have been easy choices for a floral card (both had pinks and greens), but I was drawn to the third with its more graphic greys and oranges.

This was the first time I’d coloured these stamps and I originally only got them out of my stash pile because they were ideal for a bit of Copic Jumpstart class homework, but then I realised they were perfect as the main element on a card for Seven Hills Crafts’ latest sketch challenge.
