1st birthday: Pink and sparkly

1st birthday card

How quickly time flies; a year has already passed since I was making a welcome card for baby Amelia. Of course, I forgot to put her birthday on my cards to-do list so I didn’t get a reminder to start making this card — I normally give myself plenty of time to come up with card ideas, but this had to be go from “no idea” to “in the post” in short order.

After much pondering, my poor cold-addled brain finally came up with the idea of having a large number one with some animals on balloons. I also saw the opportunity to use the Mama Elephant rainbow die that I’d just picked up from Seven Hills Crafts. I could probably have used one of my (many) so-far-unused stamp sets, but the carnival cupcakes critters were just perfect for this card.

What:

A card with a similar layout to this has been in my Pinterest for a while — I really wanted to have another go at the split panel background (I did a simpler version for the wedding card that will be posted here after the wedding next week). It also gave me the opportunity to do some liquid masking, which I haven’t tried on cards before.
