This card was created on 11th July: day 7 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge.
In response to the political mess in the UK following the EU referendum, my initial thought was to just add a single word expletive as a sentiment for this kitty, but I decided to fake some positivity instead…
How:
I printed the kitty and coloured him with Copic markers, with lots of flicking and not much blending to create the fur texture.
The background was created by blending Distress ink through a stencil. I didn’t bother masking the kitty, I was just careful to avoid going over him, moving the stencil around to get a good spread of stars. I rounded the corners of the panel and then blended some more Distress ink in from the edges.
I heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of vellum and gave it a coat of Wink of Stella. Then I cut slits down each side of the kitty’s tummy and threaded the vellum behind him, wrapping the ends around the back of the panel and taping them down. I mounted the panel flat on a card base and added some some faux stitching. The final touches were some glossy accents on the eyes and a scattering of sequins.
