Xmas card: Monochrome snowman

monochrome snowman

What:

Day 3 of the third Daily Marker 30-day colouring challenge. I’ve been meaning to try some monochrome Copic colouring for a while and this snowman seemed like a good image to start with.

How:

I printed the snowman onto some Neenah solar white, coloured it using just warm greys and toner greys and added some sketchy lines around the edges with a Copic marker. Then I very, very carefully fussy cut it out. I took a piece of double-sided adhesive foam pad, drew round the snowman and cut inside the lines to create a shaped foam piece to use to mount the snowman on the card.

I cut a strip of dark kraft-core paper and embossed it using an embossing folder that was a magazine freebie last year. A quick rub down with a sanding block revealed the kraft coloured core.

To keep things simple I had a riffle through my patterned paper pads and found one that would make a perfect background for my snowman.

Then it was just a case of assembling the card. I trimmed the patterned paper to size, glued that flat to a standard A6 card base and added the sentiment strip at the bottom edge. Then I set the snowman in place and finished it off with a scattering of clear sequins.
