I really must learn to start planning cards much earlier. I love how my shiny Gelli print kitty turned out but I could do without the time pressure!
Stitch Club: oak leaf sampler
I started my subscription to TextileArtist.org's Stitch Club with a workshop to create a modern version of a stitch sampler.
Panda in stitch
"I wonder if I can use digi stamps as embroidery patterns?" I thought. So I gave it a try and made a Valentine card.
February update
I am still here and I am still making things. I've just kept putting off writing about them. I'm working on correcting that and this update is a start...
Embroidered trees
When I first had the idea to make embroidered Christmas cards, I knew I would definitely make Christmas trees. These are the last of this year's cards.
Embroidered snowflakes
Along with designing baubles, stars and trees, I turned my hand to snowflakes, including a special extra-sparkly one.
Striped Xmas cutouts
The simplest of this year's Christmas card designs and the only one that didn't involve a needle and thread.
A cottage in the hills
Another layered landscape, with even more detail and stitching than the last one I made. This one has a cottage at the heart of it, bolder flowers at the front and, of course, tiny sheep.
Embroidered stars
First the baubles, then the stars. Three different designs with a common colour palette this time.
Embroidered baubles
This year I’ve simplified my Christmas card making by choosing a few basic designs rather than making lots of individual cards. That way I could spend more time actually creating than thinking about creating.
Pitcher of tulips
I’ve been doing more stitched projects this year, but it’s always nice to go back to my card-making basics and do a bit of Copic colouring for a change.
Thread stars
The first batch of Christmas cards this year are a combination of hand-stitching (with a pretty variegated metallic thread) and machine-cutting.
Christmas progress
I may have been quiet on the blog recently, but I have been busy making cards.
Little layered landscape
I did it again. A last-minute idea for a birthday card that required loads of work in a short amount of time. But the finished fabric landscape was definitely worth it.
White rabbit
The subject was always going to be a bunny rabbit, I just had to figure out the rest of the design. I reached for another technique from my "want to try" list and created something different.
