Embroidered stars

To go along with the embroidered baubles, I made some embroidered stars. This time, instead of picking a variety of thread and felt colours, I stuck with yellow on red. I did use different colours for the card panels they were mounted on, but even there I kept it simple with a selection of gold and silver card.

I did briefly think about sewing them with metallic embroidery floss, but I didnโ€™t have enough of either gold or silver to make three stars and I was trying to create from my stash. Instead, I used a double strand of gold sewing thread to add highlights in and around the stars.

I created all the designs for the various embroidered cards on the computer in Affinity Designer. Some of them were inspired by things Iโ€™d seen on Pinterest, and some were just the result of me doodling, but they were all created from scratch.

I like all three of these designs and actually ended up using a photo of the five-pointed star as the basis for our email Christmas card this year.
