Embroidered stars

To go along with the embroidered baubles, I made some embroidered stars. This time, instead of picking a variety of thread and felt colours, I stuck with yellow on red. I did use different colours for the card panels they were mounted on, but even there I kept it simple with a selection of gold and silver card.

I did briefly think about sewing them with metallic embroidery floss, but I didn’t have enough of either gold or silver to make three stars and I was trying to create from my stash. Instead, I used a double strand of gold sewing thread to add highlights in and around the stars.

I created all the designs for the various embroidered cards on the computer in Affinity Designer. Some of them were inspired by things I’d seen on Pinterest, and some were just the result of me doodling, but they were all created from scratch.

I like all three of these designs and actually ended up using a photo of the five-pointed star as the basis for our email Christmas card this year.
