I keep saying I’m not going to do any more challenges and then another one pops up in my inbox or on Instagram and I go “ooh that looks interesting” and here we go again…
This time it’s Fodder Challenge, a free week-long challenge about creating and using collage fodder. One of the main reasons I decided to jump in was that it’s a group of instructors that I haven’t seen before.
The first of these is Lucie Duclos and her project was to make a “Peace Catcher” (inspired by a dreamcatcher, but with a peace sign at its centre). I didn’t do that. I like the design but it’s not the sort of thing I’d hang up, so I adapted the ideas to create this piece.

I won’t go into detail about the process, though it is fairly simple and doesn’t require too many supplies. I ended up using watercolour paper, tissue paper, embroidery thread and gilding flakes, with some black card to mount it on.
And I’m really happy with it; I especially like how my oak leaf turned out with the gilding around the edge.
There is still time to sign up for the taster class — the classes will be available for an extra two weeks after they’ve all been put online.
