I posted this card back at the end of July before I had decided what to do with it. I thought it might get used for my other half’s mum’s birthday, but I wanted to leave my options open.
In the end that’s what I decided to do, though it was going to need a sentiment. Some cards you can get away without one, but this design has a space that is very obviously crying out to have a sentiment in it.
I prefer not to stamp directly on completed colouring — one slip and you’ve wrecked an hour or more’s work — so I heat embossed Happy Birthday on a piece of black card instead. And rather than glue it straight onto the card or use foam tape to pop it up, I decided to use a couple of scraps of ribbon underneath it for a change.
The sentiment is from the Tim Holtz “Crazy Talk” set and the embossing powder is Ranger liquid platinum.

What a perfect place to put your greeting! I never thought to use ribbon underneath my greeting instead of foam tape! What a great idea! I have so much ribbon….back in the days when we used a lot of ribbon on our cards! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! It doesn’t make much of an impact on the ribbon stash, but it’s nice to have another use for it!
