Farmyard Christmas

Way back in June 2016 I made two Copic farmyard cards and they have been sitting in my stash ever since. When I went to visit my mum last month I asked her if she would be interested in them because I thought one of my uncles might find them amusing; she said yes, but could I turn one of them into a Christmas card… I said yes and then promptly forgot about it.

And then, the other day, I suddenly remembered.

So… how do you turn a sunny day farmyard scene into a wintry one?

I started by making a mask for the animals and haystack. That meant I could stamp some fir trees in the background — the mask wasn’t perfect but I just used a small brush with the oxide ink to fill in the gaps around the edges.

I also stamped a tiny tree on the chick’s head and gave it a star and some glittery baubles.

That was a good start, but it really needed some snow. I contemplated various options but settled on using some white Flower Soft for texture along with some white sparkly glitter glue to add highlights to the main elements.

A die-cut sentiment and some falling snow and I decided it was time to step away and let everything dry properly before it got completely covered in fake snow.
