Wanderlust: beautiful backgrounds

After completing the rule of thirds piece, I moved on to the next bonus lesson in Wanderlust 2019: “Beautiful Backgrounds”. This covered ten different ways of applying colour and texture to a page to create a background that could then be built on with other elements.

I ended up with eleven backgrounds; I tried one technique with and without gesso, wasn’t keen on one version and then added the tape left over from another technique to it — I still don’t really like it, but I can always add another layer…

I did think about just posting the backgrounds I particularly like, but, as with the “rule of thirds”, this is a learning experience and there are things to be learned from each of these.
