Wanderlust: scribbly tiles

Art journal page with a grid of twelve squares cut from a page of paint swipes and mark-making.

Series: Wanderlust 2021 #03

Along with the weekly classes, Wanderlust also has a handful of bonus lessons from some of the guest instructors — absolutely none of which I got around to before the main course started. So, after finishing the garden of wishes lesson, I thought I’d have a quick look and see if there was anything I fancied doing.

Kate Crane had contributed three bonus projects, two of which I quickly realised would allow me to make use of the backgrounds I had made in one of the bonus lessons from Wanderlust 2019.

For this project, I took the light green (and least interesting) background, added some swipes of paint to it and, once that was dry, grabbed a couple of black Posca markers and a white Distress paint dauber to add some marks across the page. Then it was time to cut it into squares and paste them into my journal before adding another layer of mark-making, finishing it off with some Molotow liquid chrome swirls on the white dauber circles.

Close-up of some of the squares.
