The first amigurumi pattern book I bought was Amigurumi World which, as advertised, contained some seriously cute crochet including the bunnies from my first throwback post.
After that, I needed something to counter the cuteness and I found the perfect antidote in Creepy Cute Crochet by Christen Haden. The patterns all use the same basic head and body and then tweak and accessorise as appropriate for the character.
The patterns are all nicely laid out with clear assembly instructions, which is really handy as sewing amigurumi together can be the fiddliest part of the whole process.
I made four of the patterns — Cthulu, skeleton groom, ninja and robot — and they all found their way into my other half’s possession 🙂
They’re all so cute!

Oh my, these are absolutely adorable! I especially love the skeleton groom. He’s so charming with his little top hat.
I’m always so impressed by what people can come up when crocheting. It makes me want to give it a go myself but I don’t think I’d have the patience for it (and, to be honest, sometimes I feel like I’m trying to spread myself too thin with the hobbies I already have so adding any more might be dangerous :P)

Thank you! Putting together these throwback posts is tempting me to get my crochet hooks out again!
