This was created on 1st August: day 28 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge.
These kitties have so much personality and attitude. When I first saw them I immediately thought the skinny one looked shocked, like maybe he’d just found out someone’s age, and the idea for the card developed from there.
How:
I printed the kitties onto Neenah solar white and coloured them with Copic markers. The ground was made up of lots of dots in three colours and the shadows were laid down over the ground.
At this point I had to decide how I was going to use them on the card; my first thought — the easy option — was to add a simple sky background, but I really wanted to have a wall or something, so I could have the sentiment posted behind them. Then I remembered the woodgrain patterned paper I have and thought that would be perfect as a background. Of course, to do that, I had to fussy cut out the top half of the cats, which was fiddly especially around the whiskers.
I adhered a piece of the patterned paper to a card base and used foam tape to pop the kitties up over it. Then I stamped the sentiment onto a small die cut postage stamp, added some texture over the top with Copics and added it to the card with more foam tape.
The only other thing I did was to add a little sparkle and gloss to the cats’ eyes.

Thanks!! I think this is probably the trickiest bit of fussy cutting I’ve done so far. I’ve got a pile of cards from the last colouring challenge that are partially written up — I really want to try to get them blogged before the next challenge starts 🙂
