Awaken #2 ring

Series: Awaken #2 of 4

This is the second quarter of the “scattered rings” alcohol ink circles piece from last year that I decided to work on.

For this one, I started by doodling along some of the edges created where the alcohol inks met and spread. In the process I saw what looked like a flame, or a rough-cut gem, on the main circle and decided to highlight that. I added a heavier outline to the ring, coloured it with gold, and then drew alternating gold and black lines inside the flame gem. I finished it by adding a scattering of black dots across the background.
