Jungle butterfly

The only plan I had when I started this was to use up the bits of paper left over from cutting out the warm-up pieces, especially the butterfly outline.

I stuck all the pieces down without too much thought — other than the positioning of the butterfly — I just wanted to get some texture on the page. The colour was added by simply flicking brush off a straight-edged piece of card and building it up in layers until the whole page was filled, leaving only the butterfly in white.

I roughly sketched the butterfly and carefully painted around the outline. It needed something else to finish it off though, so I added a trail of foiled dots.
