Valentine’s Day (yes I know it was almost two months ago, shush) and apparently this time I took it a bit too weird. Now, I know this is a bit of a dark image, but it amused me and I didn’t think it was too extreme.
Apparently, I was wrong. Some people on Instagram loved it. Not my other half, though. We decided that I would take it away, he would forget that it had ever existed, and I would make another one 🙂
At least I know where the line is now…
I started off with a smooth layering of colouring and then used dots of the same colours over the top to create texture. Some of the printed stitching detail got a bit lost, so I went over those with Staedtler Triplus fineliners — the Triplus fineliners are Copic-safe so they won’t bleed if you add more Copic marker.
I coloured over the strings with a sepia Copic multiliner, which I also used to create the “barbed wire” frame around the panel.
I am really pleased with how the colouring turned out, but I have definitely learned my lesson about choosing suitable images… back to Mystery Science Theater 3000 for inspiration next time…
