Good luck raccoon

CR00439 square

Back on my usual form this month and dashing around on the last day to get this cute little raccoon all coloured up and on a card in time to submit it to Gerda Steiner’s progressive challenge for October.

In my defence (slightly), I did have to get a birthday card for my mum finished and other, non-crafty, things have been distracting me as well — I’ve been trying to find a balance of using craftiness to distract me from the real world stuff that is stopping me focus on the crafty stuff…

Anyway… raccoon holding a blank sign. That was the challenge for October. I didn’t have any particularly clever ideas for what to do with him, so I decided I’d challenge myself to do a bit of no-line colouring for a change. It’s a technique I find a bit intimidating as it’s one of the few things that has ended up with me dropping things in the bin and pretending they never existed. Luckily, it worked nicely this time.

I still wasn’t sure what sentiment I wanted to use, so I just flicked through my stamp sets until I found something that would fit (though I did end up cutting the good luck in half so I could stamp it on two lines).

I die-cut the finished colouring and then faffed around with some ribbons and sequins and a couple of shamrocks (from the same set as the sentiment) until I had a layout I was happy with. The larger of the two shamrocks is a bit excessively shiny — my Wink of Stella decided to bloop over it!
