I needed a birthday card for a bunny lover. My other half’s sister’s birthday is the day after my brother’s birthday, so that’s two cards that need that extra bit of thought put into them close together. I do have a couple of unused bunny stamps in my stash, but when I saw this bunny in a cup I just couldn’t resist it.
My other half chose the colour scheme. It was originally going to be a grey bunny in a pink cup, but when he saw the coloured bunny he changed his mind and wanted a white cup. So I got to make a pink background instead.
And how pink! I had planned on digging through my patterned papers, but then I happened to see an alcohol ink piece go past in my blogs and the decision was made.
I love alcohol ink backgrounds. I love the splotchy, marbly effect and it is such fun making them. Especially when they’re vivid pink! And to think I never used to like pink…
I stamped and die cut the birthday banner and glued it flat on top of the pink. As there is quite a lot of space around the sentiment, I used a silver pen to create faux stitching around the edge. I added a couple of die-cut bows to the corners and finished each of them off with a small Doodlebug sprinkle that I had coloured with a Copic marker.
A bit of dimension was needed, so I used some fun foam to pop the bunny up in the middle of the card.

Thanks! It seems odd to make the background so much brighter than the main subject, but it works…

It really really does work! That pink is bright enough to make it stand out, but it doesn’t take away from the grey of the bunny. Good idea not to colour the cup so it makes it stand out more. Xx
