Presents for sale

A friend of ours regularly buys techy stuff for himself only to turn around and sell it again shortly after; this inspired my other half to suggest that there should be a “for sale” sign somewhere on his birthday card. We had already decided there would be robots and this Lawn Fawn set has a cute little gift stamp, so I decided to have a pile of presents already for sale.

The initial inspiration for this design came from Grá over at Paper Learning Curve and I did follow her recipe for the background piece: layers of sprays, ink, and stencilling, followed by running it through an embossing folder and highlighting some of the embossed edges using, in my case, gilding wax.

I also followed her advice of having some spare card around to mop up the excess colour and I ended up with another five background panels for future use.

The robots and accessories were stamped with Versafine, coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and fussy cut out — those robot arms are fiddly! I used linen thread for the balloon strings and glued everything in place, popping the robot in the middle up on some thin foam tape.
