We’re heading towards the end of yet another month so it’s time for another challenge card. After last month’s turtle, Gerda Steiner gave us a cute little mouse with a hoard of strawberries to colour. Inspired by the sketch challenge from Seven Hills Crafts, I thought I’d combine the two challenges and make a shaker card.
I printed out the mouse and coloured him with my trusty Copic markers; adding some white gel pen highlights and a bit of sparkly Spica on the seeds and stems. Then I fussy cut him out, added some fun foam for dimension, and put him on one side while I assembled the shaker.
Apart from the card base and the sequins, all the bits were from my card scraps and backgrounds boxes. I die-cut a window from the green card and then did some tone-on-tone stamping with Versamark and some tiny flowers from a My Favorite Things set. The background was a watercolour (or possibly Brusho) experiment that has been around for so long I’m not completely sure how I made it! Even the strip of grass (hiding behind the sequins) was a die-cut leftover from a previous project. The birch trees were die cut from a scrap of pearlised card and coloured by dabbing on a bit of Distress ink. I found a suitably sized piece of acetate, grabbed some sequins and my foam tape, and assembled the shaker on the card base.
Once the shaker was in place all I needed to do was stick the birch trees across the window and position the mouse with his strawberries.
