Deadpool Valentine

cr00377-squareMy other half came back from Brussels last weekend with a horrid cold and I thought I’d managed to avoid it, but no such luck. Add to that a weekend visit from my brother, which meant a lot more talking than usual, and now my voice has disappeared almost completely. Luckily I don’t need to be able to speak to create a Valentine’s card…

There’s this one bit in Deadpool with a bunch of, quite frankly, freakish cartoon characters, one of which is a comparatively normal-looking walking heart. We have watched this film so many times that it was an obvious choice for a Valentine’s card.

I couldn’t find any decent versions of the heart online so I gave in and sketched one myself — using my light box to create a clean line version — and coloured it with my trusty Copic markers, adding a couple of white highlights. I fussy cut around the heart, leaving a panel below where I inlaid the foiled HUGS letters. I glued an embossed panel to a red card base and used some foam tape to pop up the heart and sentiment on top of it.

  1. Wow! That’s impressive drawing. I’ve never seen Deadpool, but it’s nice to have something that you both love made into a card.Hope you feel better soon. I get permanent colds from the kids at this time of year. I should take out shares in Kleenex… xx

    1. I was surprised how well the sketch turned out; drawing is not one of my strong points, but using the light box to trace it really helps. I’m still trying to shake off this cold – I can kinda speak again, but it normally ends up with me desperately trying to fight off a coughing fit 😦
