The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge blog hop

Hello! Welcome to day 2 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Today is the FIRST day of a THREE DAY hop to help jumpstart your creativity. If you’re new to the colouring challenge or have any questions about it you can take a look at Kathy’s introductory post.

I love Kathy’s colouring challenges — they are the perfect opportunity to play around with different styles, mediums and techniques.

So, even though I stuck with my favourite Copic markers for the hop, I looked for ways to stretch myself. I’ve only recently started feeling at all comfortable colouring hair so why not jump in the deep end with this digi stamp with her massive stack of hair? And then experiment with adding detail to Copic work with coloured pencils for the first time (I’m really happy with the extra texture it created in the hair).

There always has to be a little bit of shine somewhere, so I coloured the things in her hair with Spica pens. And while I was at it, took some baby steps into mixed media for the background with layers of Distress stain spray, Distress ink blending through stencils, collage medium, and Distress crayons. There’s a full list of supplies used, including the Copic colours and pencils, at the bottom of this post.

  30. Holy cow, you hit this one out of the ballpark and across the street to that car way in the back of that mall parking lot! LOL The colors you used are amazing and what’s more amazing is you used my favorite color which isn’t used a lot, yellow. You get 10 extra points for that! LOL When you took a close up of the shading you did and the variegating of the colors, my jealousy went up 20 notches! LOL We’re not worthy comes to mind in this instance. I’ve loved everyone’s cards so far but this one takes the cake. Where it takes the cake to I don’t know but it takes the cake. LOL My hair is short but I want hair that color. Will you color mine for me? LOL Wow, wow and did I mention, wow?
