Another month, another freebie with the newsletter from The East Wind, and another challenge. This time the theme is “shine on” with the requirement to include a sun, moon or something shiny.
How:
I printed out the digi stamp and cut out a mask for it so that I could created a gradient background using Distress inks. With that done, I coloured the image with my trusty Copic markers and then, very carefully cut out the shape of the moon/sun with a craft knife (with a fresh blade in). The sentiment stamp was curved on an acrylic block to match the curve of the circle, stamped in Versamark and heat embossed.
The leaves were die-cut from a slightly textured card and a bit of dark brown ink was dabbed on the stems. Gilding flakes were used to add some autumnal colour, and a bit more shine, to the leaves. These were then arranged around the outside of the panel and the overhanging ends were trimmed off.
I die cut a circle from toner card, foiled it in gold and stuck it to a black card base. As the panel is fairly large, I felt it needed more than a few lengths of foam tape to support it, so I cut some fun foam to size and used that to give the panel a little height and separation from the foiled sun.
And one of these days I will figure out how to photograph cards with foil on without it either having no shine at all, or too much glare, or reflections of the camera, or the light, or…
