Hugs: Happy flower girl

happy-girl

I’ve followed Petra Maria on Instagram for a while now, but this is the first time I’ve actually coloured one of her digi stamps myself. This girl looks so happy, surrounded by all those flowers, that I couldn’t leave her on the side uncoloured for too long.

How:

I printed the happy girl on some Neenah solar white and coloured her in with Copic markers, using a silver gel pen for her coat buttons. Because there are a lot of individual leaves and flowers, which I didn’t want to fussy cut out separately, I decided to leave her on a panel, but have some parts of the image extend past the edges.

I spent ages trying to choose a background for her. Eventually, I remembered the lattice cover die, but even then I had to find the right paper to use it with and the right colour for the card base. I swear it takes longer to make the rest of the card than it takes to colour the main image most times.

Making the sentiment was simple in comparison. I love the silver sandgrain for die-cutting, and that, combined with a couple of layers of dark blue card, made for a lovely chunky sentiment that conveniently fit perfectly between her hands.

I added some Pico Embellisher on the flowers for a little bit of shimmer and even experimented with adding some to the sentiment, but that really didn’t add anything.

Everything was glued flat to the card base, leaving the sentiment to provide all the dimension on the card.
