Birthday card: Shiny googly-eyed bunny

Shiny bunny

What:

A cutesy birthday card with all the shiny thrown at it for my neighbour.

How:

I sketched out the rough layout I wanted, fussy cut some masks and used them to figure out the correct stamping order for the bunnies, cupcake elements and flowers.

I stamped the bunnies and cupcakes with Memento ink and the flowers were stamped using Lawn Fawn dye inks. I evened out the colour on the flowers with coloured pencils and coloured the rest with Copic markers.

The vine border was die cut twice from card covered on both sides with Stick it adhesive sheet. One was covered with two colours of microfine glitter and the other with gold foil.

I was originally only going to use the glittered border, but I ended up with a couple of gaps in the glitter and needed something to cover them up. With hindsight, I would have been happier if I’d just added a sequin or two, but the gold shiny was there in front of me and so that got used instead.

The “happy” was die cut from a piece of glittery vinyl that had been stuck to some card first (more Stick it). It was added to the card panel and “birthday” was stamped to finish off the sentiment.

The corners of the panel and card base were both rounded and the panel was glued to the base with tape runner. Then I just added a bit of Wink of Stella on the cupcake and a few sequins as a final touch.

Well, there was one more thing. I had thought that glitter, foil, shiny vinyl, Wink of Stella and sequins would be enough but then I realised there was one more thing that could be added. Googly eyes!

And, although all the shiny isn’t necessarily to my taste, it was perfect for my neighbour who loved both it and the googly eyes.
