Birthday card: Ink swipe

Ink swipe birthday card

What:

A simple one-layer card with a big, bold sentiment.

Inspired by:

Many moons ago I saw a card which used some simple ink swipes as its basis, but unfortunately it’s not one that has survived in either my local inspiration folder or on my Pinterest “interesting cards” board.

How:

So simple. Choose three inks, load ink sweeper with colour, practise swiping colour on scrap paper before committing to the card base. Wait until the ink is really dry. Stamp the sentiment and stars and heat emboss. If you don’t wait until the background ink is totally dry (like me) you’ll end up with a fine layer of embossing powder stuck to the still damp patches of ink. I was lucky; I actually like the effect I ended up with…

Lessons Learned:

Wait until the pigment ink is actually dry before applying embossing powder. Even if you use a powder tool it will still stick.
