Spiced orange pomander

Another Power Poppy digi stamp gets coloured for the first time. I could have just added a sentiment and created a simple Christmas card with it, but somewhere along the way I had the idea to turn it into a shaker card. I haven’t made one of those for ages… checks… four years apparently. The fussy cutting was quite fiddly and I did have to resort to using a craft knife to cut around the mistletoe.

I was looking through my stash of random painted papers to see if I could find something to use as the background of the shaker and, just as I was starting to despair of finding anything that would work behind the orange pomander, I came across a couple of pieces from a brief experiment with marbling. Blue is the complementary colour to orange so it sets it off nicely without clashing, and the blue and white has a suitably snowy feel to it.

I die-cut a frame from gold card and another from fun foam — I trimmed that one down slightly so it wouldn’t show out the edges — and assembled it all with a piece of acetate and a selection of small sequins and stars.
