Snowman under the moon

When I coloured this (and a handful of other images) for the 30 Day Colouring challenge back in August I was quite clear that I was not making Christmas cards, I was just doing some colouring that happened to be wintry in nature. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I sat down and turned them all into cards.

I used this snowman last year on what is still one of my all-time favourite cards. It’s a fun image to colour with the interesting folds on the hat and scarf.

The scene is based on one of Sandy Allnock’s Christmas card designs — I was going to link to the video but oddly it’s been taken off YouTube since I made this. Sandy has a huge number of other holiday designs on YouTube, some of which she has collected into a free class full of inspiration: Designing Holiday Card Backgrounds.

When I’ve put a lot of effort into colouring a scene, I like to keep the rest of the card simple. For this one, I just die-cut a sentiment from black card, fixed it to the bottom of the card and called it done.
