It’s my younger nephew’s 17th birthday and, short of inspiration, I turned to my collection of things that have caught my eye while reading blogs or Twitter. Nothing specific leapt out at me, though there was a technique that used inked-up embossing folders to create a simple card and that reminded me that I haven’t used any of my embossing folders in a very long time.
That started a chain of thought that ended up with me covering a piece of card with aluminium tape, colouring it with alcohol inks, and running it through a suitably masculine embossing folder. I rubbed a black archival ink pad over it to add some depth to the edges and then buffed it back to give a more subtle effect.
A simple heat-embossed sentiment on a strip of black card was all that was needed to finish it off.
I did think about popping the sentiment up on foam tape and adding a few metal cogs poking out from behind it, but this has got to go through the post so it was best to keep it simple.
