Another piece of colouring from the project box. I’d been staring at this for quite a while before I worked out what I wanted to do with it.
Earlier this year Nancee created a cute layered card and I was rather taken with the postage stamp die she used to do it. Unfortunately, that die has been discontinued, but I eventually found a similar Hero Arts infinity version for a not-too-silly price.
Because the dies are shaped to fit US card sizes which are shorter and slightly wider than the A6 card bases I use, I knew I would have to trim a little off the height of my card. No problem I thought, I’ll just arrange the layers at the bottom of this side-folding card and then trim a bit off the top. Which would have worked wonderfully if it hadn’t actually been a top-folding card base.
I did think about cutting it off anyway and attaching the panel to a new card base, but then I thought I’d see if I could find something else to do with the gap at the top.
I remembered I had some border stickers and thought that the gold ones would go nicely with her ribbon and the gold heat-embossed sentiment. Because the stickers are a lot shinier than anything else I needed to make sure that the card still felt balanced. The first thing I did was to add a strip to the inside of the card at the bottom, then I spied the opportunity to put a small strip just below her ribbon.
I like to admit when I’ve made mistakes or when something has gone wrong making a card. I think it can be helpful to show that most things can be fixed or worked around and that it really doesn’t matter how long you’ve been crafting, it is still all too easy to stick something on the wrong way up.
