Ice-cream & Polaroid beach scene

Ice cream & Polaroid

This was created on 19th July: day 15 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge.

Like a lot of the cards I created during the colouring challenge, I didn’t start out with any real idea of what the final card would look like; I was just colouring images for the fun of colouring. This card started with the happy ice-cream and built from there.

How:

As part of the preparation for the colouring challenge, I printed out a selection of digi stamps that I hadn’t got around to using — the ice-cream was one of those. I coloured it with Copic markers and added a coat of Wink of Stella to the cream and sprinkles on top. I was especially pleased with the way the shading on the cone turned out and the colours on the ice-cream blended really smoothly.

For the rest of the card, I decided to go with a summery seaside theme. I created a beach scene to go in the Polaroid frame, stamping the bucket and spade and drawing in the other elements by hand. I taped the scene into the frame, glued the whole picture flat to the card base, and outlined it with a double layer of faux stitching in gold.

Then I die-cut some waves to go over the bottom part of the card and stamped the sentiment in the corner. With that in place on the card base I attached the ice-cream cone using thin foam tape.
