Xmas: Fox and mistletoe

Fox & mistletoe

After creating the stack of Polaroids with last month’s mermaid, I swore that I would just colour this month’s image and “put it on a card base”. Of course I couldn’t keep it quite that simple, but I did at least limit it to some printing, stamping, masking, die-cutting, colouring, heat embossing, and adding a bit of sparkle 🙂

How:

I printed the cute little fox onto some Neenah and then used my light box to trace him onto masking paper, which I fussy cut out. With the mask in place I stamped the trees, pine branches and mistletoe in two shades of green dye ink. I hadn’t wanted to stamp the mistletoe in black — I wanted the fox to be the star of the card — but it was too toned-down, so I took my finest grey Copic multiliner and carefully drew in the outlines, which gave it just the right amount of intensity. Then I used my Copics to colour the fox, snow, mistletoe and sky.

I die-cut the panel down to size with my new A6-proportioned stitched rectangles — thank you so much to Create A Smile for making these — and also used them to create a frame, which I glued flat to the card base before popping the fox panel up with fun foam. The snow was added with white Nuvo glitter drops and I used some black glitter drops on the fox’s nose.

For the sentiment banner, I die-cut some vellum using the hanging banner die, running it through the Big Shot twice to create a thinner version, and heat embossed the sentiment on it. This was glued in place, hiding the glue behind the die-cut ribbons (which were coated with Wink of Stella for an extra bit of sparkle).
