Christmas card: Christmas Bently

Xmas bunny wmWhat:

A Christmas card for my other half’s sister. She loves bunnies, so what better than a bunny bearing gifts.

The idea:

To make a Christmas bunny shaker card and to use some paper from my collection of paper pads.

How:

Bently bunny was printed onto Neenah solar white, coloured with Copic markers, and fussy cut out.

I die cut the panel he sits on using my Big Shot plus; I don’t have any oversized dies, but I find the plus really useful for panel dies as I can run them through the machine at a diagonal, which avoids the clunk of a flat die edge hitting the rollers straight on.

Then I die cut the shaker aperture and stuck a piece of acetate behind it. The rear of the panel was covered in foam tape, giving it some dimension and creating the space for the contents of the shaker window. I used some of the sequin mix from Create A Smile’s snowdance kit to fill the window and then — because I am utterly incapable of successfully mounting a card base onto the back of a panel — I added a second piece of acetate to hold the sequins in place.

I attached a piece of patterned paper to the card base to create a background for the shaker window and top and bottom borders for the panel, then peeled the backing off the foam tape, flipped the panel the right way up and stuck it to the card base.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark on a spare scrap of the patterned paper I used for the background and heated embossed in white. I trimmed it into a banner shape and attached it in position with some tape runner.

Bently bunny took his place, overlapping both the banner and the shaker window, and I added a few sequins on a diagonal across the card. The finishing touch was a bit of extra sparkle from some Wink of Stella over the hat and scarf.
