What:
Time to come up with an idea for a card for my brother’s birthday.
How:
I started out by looking for a motorbike digital stamp to use as the basis for the card, but couldn’t find one that was neither too realistic nor too cutesy; however I did find some images of Snoopy on a chopper which seemed to be from a Stampabilities stamp that is not currently available.
I wouldn’t normally copy images, but I couldn’t find the stamp and this is a one-off creation for non-commercial use.
Turning the coloured picture of the stamp into something I could print and colour took a bit of time. I had to print out the image, trace it using my lightbox, scan the trace into the computer and then clean it up so that it would give me a good enough image to colour. The lines on the final result are a bit more wobbly than the original, but I just call that character 🙂
I printed it out, added some landscape lines using a set of french curves and a multiliner, and then coloured it with Copic markers.
I trimmed down the panel and mounted it at an angle on a funky purple card base using lots of thin foam tape. The sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in white. Once the banner was mounted I liked the effect but felt that the image was unbalanced.
After a while I remembered that I had a piece of grassy border in my die cuts stash box, handily cut out of paper backed with Stick It. I trimmed it down to size and added it to the bottom corner of the panel. A scattering of stars provided the finishing touch.
