It’s always good to practise techniques before trying to use them to create a finished piece. At least that’s what people say, but I am astoundingly bad at following that advice; mostly I just dive straight in and it usually turns out okay!
After making the blue and white wall hanging earlier this year, it took me a while before I actually committed to doing anything else with my new Schacht Lilli frame loom. My intention was to try out some of the pattern tutorials on the Spruce & Linen YouTube channel and, after much procrastination, that is what I have started to do.

The first one I chose was this diamond twill pattern. It’s a simple weave as long as you follow the pattern; just a single colour yarn with contrasting warp. Of course, now I want different coloured warp threads so I can do this with light coloured yarn as well. There is also a tutorial for a two-colour variant which alternates the colours of the rows of the diamonds, but for once I picked the simplest option first.
I’d suggest that this is the start of a weaving pattern and technique library but that sounds far too much like (a) something I might have to follow through on and (b) something I could use as an excuse for not making my own creations.

That is awesome! I’ve never tried weaving but it looks interesting! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! If you ever fancy trying it, I do recommend the Spruce & Linen YouTube channel – she explains everything really clearly and you can always see exactly what she’s doing.
