This is the fourth of this year’s Copic-coloured Christmas cards and this one is based on the fourth lesson in the Winter Storybook class from Sandy Allnock over on Art-Classes.
I really like the graphic mountain range, along with the snowstorm effect. This was definitely one that needed a reference image to work from — I am terrible at visualising anything other than simple, almost primitive, shapes when it comes to, well, most things to be honest, but mountains and trees and the like in particular. Google Images is definitely my friend. I found a photo of a mountain range and simplified the shapes to come up with this design.
Like the little sheep, bunny and cat on the previous cards, this dog has been sat in my stash for a very long time, so it’s good to finally use it in this simple storybook scene.

Thank you! I just have to remember that a few minutes spent looking at references really pays off.
