Reindeer pair

One of the nice things about taking part in the Daily Marker colouring challenge is that I get to make my pile of printed digi stamps a bit smaller. Or at least I do on those occasions when I remember to check how many I have before printing a whole load of extras just in case. I restrained myself this time, and the only ones I printed were for individual cards for specific people.

This pair of reindeer had been in the pile for quite some time and I thought a quick bit of colouring would give me another cute Christmas card for the stash. Unfortunately, this stamp is no longer available as Digistamp Boutique closed down earlier this year.

It’s a small image so I kept the Copic colouring simple. I added a few pencil details — a bit of shading and stripiness on the scarves — and finished it off with some snow texture on the tree, on the ground, and in the sky. Oh, and not forgetting the Wink of Stella on the stars. The sentiment is part of the digi stamp but it was quite faint so I went over it with a fine multiliner pen.

I glued down a strip of patterned paper on the card base and bordered it with gold glitter strips. Luckily, I had a stitched circle die that was just the right size for the image (I rarely precisely size digis before printing them). I die-cut it out and added gold ink around the edge before mounting it on the card — I wanted a little dimension but didn’t want to overdo it with foam tape, so I simply cut a smaller circle of card to put behind it, which just stops it being completely flat.
