Blank: Girl in a denim dress

CR00384 square

This is a super cute image that provides plenty of opportunity to practise colouring hair and, especially, folds in clothing. The Copic colouring was pretty straightforward (as much as hair and folds ever are) and I did like the end result, but I wanted to add something more to it. One thing I’ve been experimenting with a bit is adding detail to Copic colouring using coloured pencils. I have a bunch of different types and brands of pencils, and I have tried colouring whole images with them occasionally, but, quite frankly, I just do not have the patience (or the hand strength!) to do a lot of it; however, adding some fine detail and contrast to Copic images is well within my limits 🙂

I didn’t have a plan for this when I started, other than as a fun piece of colouring, so I kept it simple and just mounted the finished image flat on a card base. I can easily add a sentiment when I need to.

  1. Your Copic colouring is really quite astonishing! I’m so impressed with those folds. I do like a bit of pencil colouring on top of Copics. Gives it added depth and structure. Beautifully done! Xx
