When I started thinking about Christmas cards, I decided that I would try creating a couple of masterboards — basically, my own patterned paper made using a brayer and acrylic paints with layers of stamping over the top — to use as the base for a few cards.

Christmas: Yetis in a circle


These cards were made on 10th November; day 10 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge. The yetis were coloured earlier in the challenge.

I told you I love these yetis… and these are not the last you’ll see this month. I did try to do something a bit different with each pair though; this time I created a snowy landscape scene inside a circle frame as backgrounds for my two yetis – one coloured in Copic markers and one covered in white shimmer detail sparkle.

Thanks: Split bouquet

For this Copic Jumpstart homework, Sandy challenged us to get our flower stamps out. Rather than trying to create loads of dimension on each petal, I chose to go with the more pastel approach, mainly because I usually go for stronger colours and contrast and I wanted to stretch myself by doing something out of my comfort zone.

Birthday card: Balloon with repeat stamping

My first birthday card of the year and it has to be for a man. As if the mojo-killing New Year’s malaise wan’t enough, I can’t even just sit down and colour some pretty flowers or cute animals. No, I have to come up with a more masculine design. A quick browse through Pinterest and I had a starting point. Then I grabbed a few “could be useful” dies and stamps and I was soon on my way to actually having an idea for a design.
