Bouncing bunny

Just as I always try to find blackberries and cute critters for my mum, so I have to do bunnies for my other half’s sister. I’d used all the nice ones in my stash so I had to go hunt for a new source of wabbits and found Lee Holland, illustrator of lots of cute critters. If I hadn’t been trying to be good and use the digis I already have before buying a load more, I could have seriously indulged myself in Christmas images from this designer. But I restrained myself, showed my other half the Christmas bunnies, and got him to choose one.

I coloured the bouncy bunny with my Copic markers, creating extra fur detail with finely sharpened coloured pencils. I added some background snow with a white gel pen and dots on the ornaments with a gold pen.

And then I really wasn’t sure what to do with it. I trimmed it down to a square but there was just too much open space that couldn’t be filled with a sentiment. Eventually, I took the plunge and die-cut it into a circle. I had planned on making a 14cm square card but now it was too small to fill that space nicely. After much pondering and fiddling, I decided to make it a standard A6 card instead: I cut one edge off the circle and layered it over a strip of glitter card and some more of the extremely useful Polkadoodles patterned paper.

It still needed a little something extra. I drew in faux stitching around the edge of the circle and added a few stars cut from the glitter card, which balances it out nicely.
