Wedding bunnies

CR00471 square

This was another of those digi stamps that had been sat on the side for ages, waiting to be coloured. I did need a wedding card, but it would have been tricky to turn these bunnies into something in keeping with that particular Harry Potter themed event. So I decided that it should be a card for the mother of the bride (who loves bunnies) instead.

I do like to experiment. Especially when I’m doing one of the 30-day colouring challenges because that gets me back in the flow of colouring and don’t have to think too hard about the basic blending.

So for these bunnies, I thought I’d practise adding a rim light — a narrow strip of lighter colour around the edge of objects that, in the real world, would be created by light reflecting off the surroundings. The rim light I’ve added is not realistic; it extends to places that wouldn’t have one, but it does serve to create a boundary between similarly coloured areas so I’m happy with the effect.

I also tried tweaking the colours of the fur underneath the veil so that it looks more like it’s covered with a sheer fabric than a completely transparent one.

The bunnies are so cute I didn’t want to make the card too fussy. I trimmed down the image panel, added a border of silver faux stitching, die-cut some vellum to create a lacy edge, and added a few white drops and a touch of Wink of Stella to finish it off.

  1. Oh my, the bunnies are so adorable! Very nice idea for a wedding card. Actually, you could scan the card, and reach a company that sells wedding/birthday cards. I believe they will be interested in your designs.
