Easter: Chocolate dragon

I’m not really doing Easter cards this year, but I had to make one for my mum. I like colouring bunnies, but it is nice to do something a bit different — a little unexpected — so I had a think and came up with a non-traditional chocolate dragon in an Easter egg.

I had the idea, but I didn’t have an egg. I had a couple of goes at drawing one freehand but the less said about that the better. More success was had creating one on the computer, printing it out, drawing the crack line,  and tracing it as two parts using my light box.

I also traced the bottom piece onto masking paper and masked off the lower part of the dragon to make him sit neatly inside the egg. I chose chocolate and cream colours for the dragon, purple and pink for the egg, and some bright spring greens for the grass. Once I’d finished the colouring, I stamped the sentiment in grey. It still needed a little something else, so I added a generous helping of Wink of Stella and some small hearts stamped in my newly acquired Distress oxide ink (some experiments with that will follow).
