Thanks: Succulent sketch

September’s challenge over at Seven Hills Crafts is a sketch. One of these days I’ll figure out how to interpret sketches in a novel and interesting way (and still have it recognisable), but today is not that day. Instead, I’ve used the sketch as is, but divided it into layers with the pots at the bottom, the plants that go in the pots in the middle, and the bugs that fly over them at the top.

How:

I stamped the pots, succulents and bugs onto Copic-friendly paper, coloured them with my Copic markers and fussy cut them out.

The sentiment was die cut four times; once from white card, which was then coloured with Inka Gold, and the rest from black card. I stacked these together to give it a bit of dimension.

For the background, I did some single-colour ink blending to colour a piece of woodgrain cardstock. This was fixed to a plain white card base with Scor-tape.

I glued the sentiment flush on the card and popped the pots, plants and bugs up on some foam squares. The final touch was to add a coat of glossy accents to the sentiment and add lots of tiny dots of glossy accents randomly across the background… and then walk away and not touch it again until I was absolutely sure it was dry.
